What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine that aims to treat the 'whole person'; that is, it considers you mentally, emotionally and physically, as all these aspects work together synergistically to maintain a healthy person. It aims to treat the root cause of the disease and uses highly diluted medicines for this purpose.

Homeopathy is a natural therapy that treats people as individuals, so that people suffering from the same condition may be given different remedies depending on their symptoms and individual expression of the disease. For example, the homeopathic remedy given to a person with a cough would vary depending on whether the cough was wet or dry, whether it was worse at night or during the day, what triggered the cough, what makes it better/worse etc.

Homeopathy is based on the idea that 'like cures like'. This means that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat similar symptoms in a sick person. For example, red onion, which can cause watery eyes and a runny nose in a healthy person, can be made into a homeopathic remedy to treat hayfever and the common cold.

Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted and, thus, are non-toxic and safe for use with children and adults alike. They can be taken alongside medications prescribed by your doctor.

Homeopathy can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, mental, emotional and physical, as it is the person rather than the illness that is being treated. The homeopathic remedies stimulate the person's vital force triggering the body's immune system to take action and encouraging self-healing.
